ROCHESTER, Minn. - A 4% increase on the special service district charge was approved on Monday at the City Council meeting. The annual adjustment is usually between 4-8% and for the past four years, the Rochester Downtown Alliance has request the lowest increase amount.

This service charge will help the RDA market downtown, as well as fund events that happen each year like Thursdays Downtown, Downtown Dazzle, and more. Around $400,000 is expected to be collected and it will be put towards events, marketing, operations, as well as the general RDA budget.

"This additional investment allows us to keep up and not have to dial back an event like Thursdays," said Shawn Fagan, Executive Director of the Rochester Downtown Alliance. "Allows us to continue forward and hopefully do more."
