HAMPTON, Iowa.-Patrick Palmer, a cyber security expert and owner of the Computer Guy repair store, says the effects of an early morning outage by Cloudflare were widespread shutting down access to Uber, Amazon and ChatGPT for many users across the country.
In a statement to KIMT Cloudflare's media relations team says the outage started around 4:20 a.m. CST and lasted until around 8:30 a.m.
It was caused by a configuration file that was automatically generated to manage threat traffic.
The file grew bigger than expected and triggered a crash in the software system that handles traffic for a number of Cloudflare's services.
