NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) - Rows of beds are ready at Culbertson Baptist Church with winter just around the corner.
The Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana (HCSI) is providing a warm place to sleep for members of the community for a 10th year.
“We’ve been able to help with the resources as the food and things like that,” HCSI Leslea Townsend Cronin said. “I think this is going to be a successful season.”
November 2024 through April 2025 was the busiest season for the organization as the demand for assistance continues to grow.
Just after the holidays, concerns set in that it could have been the last time they could provide the resource to the community. Running the shelter costs around $175,000 annually.
