LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — The UNL Faculty Senate overwhelmingly voted in support of a resolution expressing no confidence in Chancellor Rodney Bennett.

Faculty members voted 60 to 14 for the resolution with three abstentions on Tuesday. The vote, while largely symbolic, is the first of its kind in the 156-year history of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The UNL Faculty Senate moved to consider the no confidence vote as Bennett worked to finalize $27.5 million in cuts from the university. Bennett announced the cuts in September, and a proposal for the cuts has since been submitted to the Board of Regents for its consideration on Dec. 5.
