CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - More than a century after his ultimate sacrifice, Chesterfield County honored fallen Deputy Archer T. Belcher by renaming a road in his honor.

What was once just a stretch of road is now “Archer Belcher Way,” a permanent tribute to a man who gave his life in service to the community.

On Wednesday, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office officially gathered for the occasion, renaming Academic Way in Deputy Archer’s honor.

The Sheriff’s Office sees this as more than a road dedication, but a powerful reminder of Deputy Belcher’s courage and sacrifice.

“We want him to never be forgotten, especially for his selfless service to the community. He gave his life to Chesterfield County, and it’s citizens and service to them,” said Sheriff Leonard.
