DES MOINES, Iowa —
Des Moines police investigators say they have solved a missing person case from more than a decade ago.
According to the Des Moines Police Department, a 54-year-old woman was reported missing in 2011 while visiting southern Iowa from South Carolina. While the woman became separated from her partner and disappeared, there was no evidence of a crime, and the woman was entered into the nationwide missing person database, per DMPD.
The case had remained open for nearly 15 years.
A Des Moines police detective began digging into the case last week. With help from advancements in technology, investigators looked into leads ranging from various cities in Iowa to South Carolina, Texas, and Nebraska.
