DES MOINES, Iowa —

The Des Moines Police Department said a missing person case from more than a decade ago has been solved.

A then-54-year-old woman went missing in 2011 during a trip from South Carolina to a southern Iowa town, investigators said. During the trip, she became separated from her partner and disappeared.

Investigators said there was no evidence of a crime, and she was entered into the nationwide missing-persons database.

Des Moines police said a detective began looking into the case last week, and the "advancement of technology in law enforcement" provided leads from Des Moines to other cities in Iowa, South Carolina, Texas and Nebraska.
