SUPERIOR, Neb. —

A 32-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison in the death of his girlfriend.

The incident happened in December 2023 in Superior, Nebraska.

Sebastian Dunbar had a rifle and shot through the front door of his shared residence with his girlfriend Molly Gruber.

Gruber died from her injuries.

The couple's two-year-old was home during the incident.

Nebraska State Patrol as well as local authorities responded to the residence and arrested Dunbar, who was still at the scene.

He was found guilty by a jury in June 2025 of first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, negligent child abuse, and assault by strangulation.

A judge sentenced him to life plus 48-50 years in prison.
