IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Johnson County bomb squad safely removed a grenade from an Iowa City home Monday night.

Iowa City police responded to a report of suspicious activity after the grenade was found inside the residence. Police say the pin was still in the grenade.

Officers secured the scene while the bomb squad confirmed the grenade was real but had been rendered inert.

The squad x-rayed the grenade before taking custody of it.
