CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The spending bill that reopened the federal government last week contains a provision that could ban legal THC-infused drinks and other hemp products.

The legislation includes language that would prohibit products containing THC levels currently legal in Iowa, such as beverages infused with 4 milligrams of THC that are sold and consumed legally in the state.

Scott Selix is one of the CEOs of Climbing Kites, a brand based in Des Moines. It sells THC-infused drinks. Selix said the provision redefines hemp processing rules.

“It redefined the hemp plant and how you can process the hemp plant and it makes every product made from hemp effectively illegal,” Selix said.
