WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A 10-year-old boy is celebrating not only hitting his first over-the-fence homerun but also being the first player to do it at a new major sports venue in Central Texas.
Lawson Hunt, a fourth grader who is homeschooled in China Spring, hit the bomb at Parsons Sports Ranch in Clifton as his China Spring Cougs 10u team took on the Centex Bandits 10u.
“It was the first inning. I was up to bat, and I had two strikes on me and was just trying to get it into play, and I hit it solid and when I was running to first base, my dad said ‘let’s go!’ And then I realized I hit it over,” Lawson said.
Lawson rounded the bases and crossed the plate to hugs and cheers from his teammates.
The boy has been playing baseball since he was 5-years-old, his mom, Abbey said.
