United Way of Northern California is providing emergency food assistance following a pause in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The organization has activated its Emergency Financial Assistance Program to help residents facing food insecurity, according to a community announcement.

The program is funded by the Sierra Health Foundation’s Emergency Food4All initiative and contributions from donors. It provides $100 gift cards to individuals and families across United Way of Northern California's nine-county service region who have been affected by the disruption in SNAP benefits. Included in this region are Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties.
