A superb bicycle kick goal from Scott McTominay has helped Scotland reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 1998.

The Scots qualified for next year's finals in North America and Mexico with a 4-2 victory over Denmark in front of a boisterous home crowd at Glasgow's Hampden Park.

Denmark, who only needed to avoid defeat to secure its third successive World Cup finals appearance, was stunned in the third minute when McTominay scored a magical goal for the ages.

Appearing to defy gravity, McTominay soared high into the air to meet a Ben Gannon-Doak cross with an overhead kick that gave Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel no chance. Loading Twitter content
