KINGSTON, N.Y. — A nine-man, three-woman jury deliberated for five hours Tuesday without reaching a verdict in the murder trial of former Trooper Christopher Baldner.
Baldner, 52, of Greene County, is charged with murder, manslaughter, and three counts of reckless endangerment for the Dec. 22, 2020, crash that claimed the life of 11-year-old Monica Goods.
He is accused of acting with “depraved indifference to human life” by twice intentionally ramming the Dodge Journey driven by her father, Tristin Goods, during a high-speed chase that began when Tristin Goods fled a traffic stop after Baldner pepper-sprayed the vehicle. The second impact, prosecutors say, caused Tristin Goods to lose control of the SUV, which crashed into the guardrail and flipped just north of Exit 19 in the town of Ul
