Nick Goepper, a Lawrenceburg native and three-time Olympic medalist, is gearing up for his fourth Olympic appearance with hopes of striking gold by mastering a new trick in the halfpipe.
After a brief retirement, Goepper felt the competitive itch and decided to reinvent himself by switching from slopestyle to halfpipe skiing. Burnout from consecutive Olympic Games led the 31-year-old to hang up his skis after earning two silvers and a bronze. However, the desire to compete remained strong. Advertisement
"I grew a little restless after I retired for the first time about eight months went by and I was like you know what, I think there's more out there for me, I can switch it up a little bit," Goepper said.
