SCOTTSBURG, Ind. —
After six decades downtown, Scottsburg City Hall has a new home.
The city on Tuesday gave residents a first look at its relocated headquarters inside the Mid-America Science Park on South Lake Road.
“Scottsburg is really moving forward. We want you to see and know that, and it is all going to be based out of here right now," said Mayor Terry Amick of Scottsburg.
This is a move officials say will bring key departments under one roof and make services easier to access.
“This facility is about 105,000 square feet. We’ve taken about 13,000 to 15,000 square feet of it and moved City Hall here," said Amick.
City leaders say the shift also sets up a smooth swap downtown: the courthouse will move into the former City Hall on East McClain Avenue.
