Auburn interim head coach DJ Durkin is the one coach athletic director John Cohen has publicly said is a candidate for the school’s open head coaching position.

That declaration came the day after Hugh Freeze was fired and he’s still being considered two weeks into the search. Durkin isn’t the only candidate, though, as a number of sitting head coaches across college football are being considered.

CBS Sports reported on Monday that Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz and Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea have emerged alongside Durkin as names that have come up the most in Auburn coaching search talks.
