Ruben Quib took the witness stand in a Jefferson County courtroom Tuesday and looked solemnly at a picture that a prosecutor handed to him.
It was a photograph taken on Valentine’s Day 2022 at the family’s church and it showed Quib standing next to his smiling wife Rosa and surrounded by their three children.
He immediately put his head in his hands and began to sob.
“My three kids have been my life,” Quib said through a translator.
It was three years ago this week that Quib’s daughter, 14-year-old Moriah Quib-Marquez, was shot to death while riding in the family’s SUV on her way to school.
Quib’s wife, Rosa, was shot too.
While she survived the rifle shot to her head, she has never been, and never will be, the same.
