The Coweta County Sheriff's Office recently arrested a Newnan man for the robbery of a gas station last week.

On Nov. 10 at approximately 3 a.m., Andrew Jackson Chitwood, 47, reportedly entered the Shell gas station at 4 McCollum Station with a handgun and stole cash before fleeing the seen.

According to Christopher Ricketson, CCSO's public information officer, no injuries were reported from the incident.

CCSO's investigators used CCTV footage and other investigative methods, according to Ricketson, to identify Chitwood as the armed robbery suspect.

Arrest warrants were obtained for armed robbery and simple assault.

On Nov. 17, CCSO patrol deputies located Chitwood during a traffic stop and took him into custody, Ricketson said.
