The last circulating pennies are set to be auctioned off next month.

The U.S. Mint announced the auction, to be handled by Stack’s Bowers Galleries, in a news release on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The last circulating one-cent coins will be auctioned off on Dec. 11 through a "special sale" of 232 three-coin sets, symbolizing the 232 years pennies have been in circulation, the government agency said.
