COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -Three years after a mass shooting that took the lives of five people at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, members of the community are remembering those lost that night.
Around midnight on November 19, 2022, Derrick Rump, Daniel Aston, Kelly Loving, Raymond Green-Vance and Ashley Paugh were shot and killed when a gunman opened fire in the club. Several others were injured.
Among those who survived that night was Michael Anderson, an outspoken survivor who has since opened up an LGBTQ+ lounge in the Satellite Hotel called the Retro Lounge (formally The Q). One of the first things you see walking into the lounge is a wall filled with notes from the community with a large painting of the five victims as its centerpiece.
