EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis players Ozan Baris and Matthew Forbes wrapped up a successful opening day at the NCAA Individual Championships, with both Spartans earning victories Tuesday evening to advance in the bracket.
Senior Ozan Baris took the court against Jangjun Kim from Virginia. Baris battled hard and came out on top with a 6-2, 7-6 win to advance in the bracket. He will take on Roan Jones of North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Sophomore Matthew Forbes also came out with a win in the round of 64 against sophomore Pablo Martinez Gomez of Vanderbilt. Forbes battled hard through a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 match, rallying from a set down to come out victorious and advance to the round of 32. He will face Cosme Rolland De Ravel of TCU on Wednesday.
