LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The State Attorney General and policy experts gathered in Lansing on Tuesday to address the latest developments on SNAP funding.
AG Dana Nessel and the League for Public Policy discussed how the disruptions in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding is impacting Michigan families.
“This is an exhausting and extensive process to fill out all of those forms, and there’s a lot of personal information that is involved,” said Nessel.
“While I definitely think that we can all agree that we want to reduce any fraud that might be in the program, this isn’t the way to do it. And so you can’t, at the same time, be, you know, firing, you know, inspectors general who oversee large programs, but then say, we’re doing this to reduce the fraud.”
