BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WNDU) - An active gas leak has been secured in Benton Harbor Monday night.
The gas leak happened at 7 p.m. in the area of Sherman Court and Colfax Avenue, according to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.
Residents who evacuated were allowed to return to their homes at 8:27 p.m.
Officials say the cause of the leak was from a meter that was sheared off by a trailer backing up.
Michigan Gas Utilities also responded to investigate the incident.
