Shillong, Nov 18:The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) today urged the state government to set up an independent inquiry into the implementation of MLA schemes in Meghalaya.
VPP supremo Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, along with the VPP’s Mawlai MLA Brightstarwell Marbaniang and other party leaders, submitted a letter to the Chief Minister’s office in this regard.
In the letter, the VPP said the CM’s recent comments on the implementation of MLA schemes had raised important concerns. The party referred to his statement that some schemes may not be properly implemented, especially in constituencies represented by opposition MLAs.
Basaiawmoit said the party welcomed the concerns of Chief MInister Conrad K Sangma on whether the MLA scheme was being used properly. He said the VPP support
