ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A school resource officer was hit by a car while directing traffic in Gilmer County on Tuesday afternoon, according to deputies.
The deputy was working to guide traffic on Highway 5 South when they were struck.
The sheriff’s office said the deputy had non-life-threatening injuries, but was in “a significant amount of pain.”
There are three schools within a short distance of the accident: Gilmer High School, Mountain Education Charter High School and Gilmer Christian Learning Center.
