SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

South Carolina health officials have reported five new cases of measles, bringing the total number of cases in the Upstate outbreak to 49, with 52 cases reported statewide in 2025.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Health, two of the five cases are household members of known measles cases who were in quarantine. The sources of the other three are unknown at this time.

Currently, there are 84 people in quarantine.

Health officials said the upcoming holidays may increase the risk of exposure greatly for those traveling and for those accepting visitors.
