CHEYENNE — In an effort to spur economic growth and create more affordable housing for the community, city officials are looking to submit an application to the Wyoming Business Council for the Community Readiness Grant to aid in the purchase of 8.37 acres of land.
Members of the Cheyenne City Council’s Finance Committee voted Tuesday to recommend the authorization to submit the application. The grant would provide $2.175 million to aid in the land purchase, which costs a total of $2.9 million.
The housing community, called First & Union, would be located on the northwest corner of Carlson Street and Converse Avenue, and is expected to consist of eight three-story buildings with 46 one-bedroom units, 92 two-bedroom units and 46 three-bedroom units.
