KULA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hearts were heavy in Kula after a 21-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash.

Hilalia Villanueva-Langi, 21, was a cherished cheerleader and coach.

The crash occurred on Saturday at around 5:15 p.m. on Holopuni Road, about 340 feet east of Pulehu Road.

According to the Maui Police Department, Villanueva-Langi was driving west on Holopuni Road in a white 1998 Toyota 4-Runner when she lost control on a left bend in the roadway.

The vehicle crossed the centerline, then overcorrected in an attempt to return to the westbound lane.

The vehicle then crossed back over the lane into the dirt shoulder, where it began to roll over and re-entered the roadway.
