A Monday dog-attack has left Jason Cooke emotionally and mentally shaken. The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project CEO told 21 News it is jarring even to hear a dog bark, as he tries to return to his daily duties assisting the organization.
"Hearing a dog bark brings me right back to that moment and it's terrifying," Cooke said.
Cooke was attacked while attempting to put a recently hospitalized dog into a kennel. He suffered severe bite wounds to the neck, sending him to the hospital.
The attack came from a dog Cooke says was extremely neglected. The dog was taken in by Healthy Hearts and Paws last week after being found at a home in Warren, with visible neck injuries. Cooke said the dog was suffering from deep neck wounds "consistent with an embedded collar or tether, and possible misuse of
