Australian legend Glenn McGrath has reportedly been axed from his ABC commentary position just days before The Ashes due to his links to a betting company.

The preminent fast bowler has a relationship with bet365 due to its support of the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Test in Sydney, which is said to be in breach of the national broadcaster’s anti-gambling policy.

McGrath will still lend his voice to the BBC, but will not be on Australian airwaves after ABC managing director, Hugh Marks, decided it would be unfair on others to make an exception.

The ABC forbids its employees from having an association with betting companies, a policy that saw Mitchell Johnson quit his role in 2022 due to his association with Bet Nation.
