BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Once again, an old, familiar name has resurfaced in Southern’s latest search for a head football coach.
Per multiple sources, Southern officials interviewed Marshall Faulk for the position. The interview was recently held in Colorado, where Faulk is currently the University of Colorado running backs coach.
The NFL Hall of Famer is in his first year and first coaching gig ever with the Buffaloes.
In April of 2021, Faulk’s name was in the mix to be Southern’s head coach after Dawson Odums departed for Norfolk State. That job ended up going to Jason Rollins who lasted one season as an interim.
A source also told 9Sports that the search has narrowed down to ten candidates, including Faulk. A head coach is not expected to be named until after the Bayou Classic.
