The 20-year-old Bedard notched a hat-trick to lead the host Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-2 victory at United Center.

His first goal of the evening was made possible by his dazzling speed, his second was a display of his wicked release and the last was an empty-netter.

It’s another loss for Calgary’s growing pile. They remain at the bottom of the overall standings at 5-13-3.

And it’s more evidence for the argument that they need the type of player that you find at the top of the NHL Draft. Bedard was the first-overall pick in 2023.
