Baramulla, Nov 19: Security forces on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Uri sector of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
Army units posted along forward positions detected suspicious movement from the Pakistan side and immediately launched counter-infiltration measures. Alert troops engaged the suspected infiltrators, forcing them to retreat across the LoC.
A combing operation was carried out to ensure no militant group had managed to infiltrate. Officials said searches were continuing in the forward belt as a precaution.
Authorities noted that the attempt reflects renewed efforts from across the border to push armed militants into Kashmir ahead of winter. Security forces have accordingly intensified surveillance and night patrolling
