Drivers heading into the capital face delays this morning as part of the M4 is closed for emergency resurfacing works.
The eastbound carriageway between junction 12 for Theale, Berkshire and junction 11 - the A33 link at Reading south - is closed during rush hour. The diversion takes motorists through Reading itself, which is congested as a result.
A crash overnight led to an oil spillage which emergency crews are clearing, the National Highways says. It added: "A full closure has been implemented to allow service providers to work on scene to resurface the road." The M4 continues eastwards into west London, and further into the heart of the capital.
