Four-day 'rise in death' health alert in place as 25cm snow coming for some View Image
Snow and ice warnings have come into force across the UK, as the Met Office said the wintry weather “could create some particularly tricky travel conditions”. The UK Health Security Agency has alerts in place which warn of an increase in deaths among some groups due to the extreme cold.
The alerts - including four amber warnings which cover the whole of the north of England - will remain in place until November 22. It comes after snow fell across parts of Scotland as a cold snap grips the northern half of the UK.
