Shocking internal fraud has been uncovered at a D-Mart store in Alwar, Rajasthan, where an employee manipulated barcodes to cheat the company out of a huge sum.
Narendra, son of Kushal and resident of Upala Sonava, allegedly replaced genuine barcodes on high-value items with fake ones, making them appear cheaper at checkout and resulting in significant financial losses.
How the Scam Operated
Investigators found that Narendra was applying self-made counterfeit barcodes on expensive products. These fake barcodes were programmed to display lower prices.
Whenever the items were scanned at the billing counter, the system registered a much-reduced price, allowing the employee and possibly his associates to acquire merchandise for far less than its actual value.
