Advertisements for three hotel chains and travel site Booking.com have been banned for misleading customers about the availability of rooms at the lowest prices. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that Booking.com, Accor, Travelodge and Hilton all used "from" price claims for hotel rooms that exaggerated the number available at the advertised rate.
Due to only a small percentage of rooms being available at the advertised prices across various dates, the ASA deemed the ads misleading and banned all four. In the case of Booking.com, an ad on 6 May stated "Places to stay in Sheffield – Best Price Guarantee, and further text read ", with further text reading "easyHotel Sheffield City Centre From £28".
