BELAGAVI: The death of 31 blackbuks at the Rani Chennamma mini zoo in Belagavi has been attributed to Hemorrhagic Septicemia (HS) bacteria. According to zoo officials, the cause of death was confirmed after post-mortem tests were conducted by experts from Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru.

The zoo’s Assistant Conservator of Forests, Nagaraj Balehosur, confirmed that the blackbucks died due to HS bacteria. The deaths occurred between October 13 and 16, and post-mortem tests were conducted to determine the cause.

While the official report attributes the deaths to HS bacteria, there are also reports suggesting that sudden changes in temperature and stress may have contributed to the deaths.
