MYSURU, BENGALURU: Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman Professor Purushottam Bilimale has sparked controversy with his comments about Yakshagana artists from of the coastal region.
Speaking at a book release programme organised by Prasaranga in Mysuru, Bilimale allegedly stated that most Yakshagana artists are homosexuals and that the art form has an inherent element of homosexuality. He said, “We shouldn’t hesitate to tell the truth. Yakshagana artists are on tour for six to eight months in a year and during this time, they don’t get opportunities to be with women”.
