Rabbi Sharon Marcus announced from the bimah at Park Synagogue on Yom Kippur that she would be leaving the synagogue in Pepper Pike that she has been with since 1999.

Marcus’ departure is effective June 30, 2026, and the announcement came just two-and-a-half weeks after Park Synagogue held a celebration honoring her, Cantor Misha Pisman and ritual director Gadi Galili for 25 years of service to the synagogue.

“It wasn’t 100% my decision,” Marcus told the Cleveland Jewish News. “Three years ago when I was in contract negotiations, they only offered me two years. They said that the president of the board did not want to make any more long-term commitments to a few of the clergy. I wasn’t really given a reason.”
