Middlesbrough are closing in on the appointment of Hammarby head coach Kim Hellberg . The Championship side are reported to have agreed terms with the manager and are now waiting on a work permit.

The 37-year-old is set to take over from Rob Edwards , who left the club for Premier League strugglers Wolves. He will look to continue the positive start to the season, with ‘Boro sitting in second place in the Championship table behind leaders Coventry City.

The arrival of Hellberg will give him time to assess his squad and start to make plans for the January transfer window. That window could give the new manager a chance to reunite with some of his players at Hammarby.
