A 4-year-old girl who was fatally hit by a school bus in Upstate New York has been identified.
Leanna Herrera of Jamestown, N.Y., was named Tuesday by Jamestown Police as the child who was struck by a Panama Central School District bus. The incident occurred Monday morning around 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of Cole Avenue and Whitehill Avenue, outside Milton J. Fletcher Elementary School in Jamestown.
Herrera was taken to UPMC Chautauqua at WCA Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Police told WGRZ that they are still investigating the incident and all parties involved are cooperating. No charges have been filed for the driver.
The child was struck by a Panama Central School District bus which was in the process of dropping off another out of district student, police said.
