EDEN, N.C. — Deputies arrested Michael Vernon on Tuesday night for four counts of second-degree murder without regard, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office. He also faces three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the April 24 crash that killed four linemen in Eden.
A true bill of indictment for the new charges came down around 5 p.m. Tuesday, and Vernon was arrested that evening.
Vernon is scheduled to appear in court today, Wednesday, where we will learn more about his bond for these new charges.
Vernon, 66, had previously faced misdemeanor charges , including death by motor vehicle, failure to stop, and operating a commercial vehicle without the proper license.
