CHIKKODI: A woman was attacked with a sickle and nearly killed by a relative while court proceedings were under way at the Athani court on Tuesday afternoon. The incident came to light only now. The victim Meenakshi Ramchandra Shinde (50) is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The accused, Babasaheb Chauhan from Kotanatti village, allegedly attempted to kill Meenakshi over a property dispute. The woman had approached the court regarding the dispute, and the accused, who is her relative, had previously clashed with her over the matter.

On Tuesday, the accused allegedly chased the woman and attacked her with a sickle, leaving her no choice but to flee into the court hall of the Principal Civil Judge, causing panic for some time. The Athani police have arrested the accused and are
