BRANCH COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - Deputies from the Branch County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol recovered more than 240 grams of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop early Wednesday.

Shortly after midnight, deputies initiated a stop on U.S. 12 near Bawden Road in Bronson Township.

During the encounter, deputies became suspicious of possible drug activity and called for a K9 unit from the Coldwater Police Department.

When the K9 arrived, it did an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted deputies to the presence of drugs.

Deputies then searched the vehicle and found more than 240 grams of crystal meth, along with a large amount of heroin.

Both were packaged in a way that suggested they were meant for distribution.
