The council follows Edinburgh , Glasgow and Aberdeen City Councils in adopting the tax, which is hoped to raise revenue for local services.

The levy will encompass Balloch , Alexandria , Dumbarton , Clydebank and parts of Loch Lomond, and will apply to bookings made after 1 October 2026.

Last week, council leader Martin Rooney of Scottish Labour asked councillors at a meeting of the Infrastructure, Regeneration & Economic Development Committee to support the tax, which could garner £8.5 million over five years.
