Analysts will be looking for hints about how Christmas sales are going when Walmart Inc. reports its third-quarter earnings on Thursday.

The Bentonville-based retailer's earnings results and related materials will be posted on its financial results web page at 6 a.m.

Wall Street analysts on average expect Walmart to report earnings of 6 cents per share.

Doug McMillon, Walmart's president and chief executive officer, will take part this morning in his last quarterly earnings call with investors before he retires on Jan. 31.

John Furner, the company's chief executive of Walmart U.S. who was elected to succeed McMillon; and John David Rainey, Walmart's chief financial officer, will also host the live 7 a.m. call to discuss the quarter's results and answer questions.
