Veterans Day reflection, 2025: In memory of Jean Lafayette and Marcel G. Belisle.

Each year on Veterans Day, our nation pauses to honor those who have served in defense of freedom. It is a day of remembrance and gratitude – a time to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and moral strength of the men and women who put service before self.

For me, this day carries deeply personal meaning. I think of my late father, Jean Lafayette, who served with distinction in both Europe and the Philippines during World War II. His service spanned continents, from the fields of Europe to the islands of the Pacific, guided by a steadfast sense of duty and a belief in a world where liberty could triumph over oppression.
