NORTH SMITHFIELD – The Davies Tech football team became the first Division IV squad in more than a decade to earn a third straight trip to the Super Bowl last Friday night, and the Patriots needed to knock off a formidable undefeated team eight miles away from their campus in order to punch their return tickets to Cranston Stadium.

Thanks to a marvelous job by their defense and two fourth-quarter touchdowns, the 3rd-seeded defending champions bused home with a 24-6 victory over 2nd-seeded North Smithfield that extended their win streak to eight games.

The Patriots also improved to 8-2, and one of the losses was a 34-18 defeat to Narragansett in the second week of the season and in its home opener at Bryant University. Davies will renew acquaintances with the top-seeded Mariners, who are
